Posted 14 November 2016

 As of 3.30pm

The Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management has cancelled the tsunami warning in place for Wellington to Banks Peninsula. Based on all available data, Civil Defense says the tsunami threat has now passed. But it says coasts may still experience unusual strong currents and sea level fluctuations lasting for several more hours. Stay vigilant in and around coastal waters.

Ministry of Education’s Katrina Casey says 44 secondary schools of 97 in the affected areas have been closed today. Please contact us if you have any concerns about your school's current emergency plan and readiness to deal with events like today - email us at info@harrisontew.co.nz or call 0800 111 277 and we would be happy to help you.
